Building a support network...

The Irish Times this morning has a story about a new support group for unemployed in New York called the 405 Club. The group gets its name from New York's maximum unemployment benefit of 405 dollars a week.
There are now 335,000 unemployed people in the City of New York. Only 40 per cent are claiming benefits.
The 405 Club is the brainchild of three recently pink-slipped Manhattanites who want to provide a support network for the growing numbers of jobless in New York. Their goal is to share tips on how to live within their drastically reduced means, offer each other moral support and ultimately help each other find jobs.
With rapidly increasing unemployment in Ireland there is a need for similar support groups in Irish cities and towns. Maybe some enterprising individuals would take the lead on this idea.
